NWBC in combination with IE11
Dear,
According OSS note 1754946 : prerequisites for NWBC 4.0, only internet explorer versions 8, 9 and 10 are supported as this moment.
Nevertheless I see some notes regarding IE11, such as 1946911 - SAP NWBC ABAP Runtime Patch 35 refering to IE11 issues.
Can we safely roll out the latest patches of NWBC 4.0 with Internet Explorer 11 ?

NWBC & Kerberos
Hi,
I am trying to find a clean way of setting up Kerberos with NWBC. I have seen few discussion on SSO with NWBC and noticed different suggestions based on the current infrastructure which is already available at client place.
In my landscape, I have an NW Portal 7.3 and an SAP ERP system. Kerberos is already setup for the Portal and SSO is established between Portal and ERP. Hence, when a user logs into PC, they can launch the Portal and access backend ERP applications without the need to re-authenticate.
Now, NWBC comes into picture and the client wants to use it to access the ERP system. I am aware of Kerberos setup on the SAPGUI which could allow access to ERP system. Since the users would not be using the SAPGUI logon pad, where do I make the SNC settings? Do we need to make any changes to the logon Procedure for the NWBC service in SICF ?
I also came across an interesting blog by Andre Fischer where he mentions "The SAP NetWeaver Business Client supports Windows Integrated Authentication as the initial authentication if the SAP NetWeaver Portal services infrastructure used is configured to use the SPNego Login Module". I am not quite sure how to achieve this.
Can someone please share their experience.

Same entry in internet explorer works. Why in NWBC after entering logon data an empty screen follows?

Sidepanel Implementation for NWBC
Hello gurus,
at the moment I'm trying to implement the standard sidepanels from role SAP_BSSP_LO_SIDEPANEL for Logistics. I want to open them with NWBC 4.0.
The problem is, that the sidepanels are not filled with data and I can't find an good documentation which tells me what I have to do so that they will be filled.
We are on ECC 6.0 EHP 6 and I activated the scripting.
Can anyone tell me where I can find some more details about the standard CHIPs in SAP?

How to access value of a cell dynamically from a table?
Hi SCN,
I am new to NWBC.
What I want is, when I click on one table cell value, I want a SAP screen personas flavors( for va02) to get opened with the 'Sales Order' value set to the value being clicked on from the table.
I used the link 'http://scn.sap.com/thread/3401547' to redirect user to the flavor for va02 from NWBC screen, with some hard-coded value. But now I want to pass value dynamically as mentioned above.
Generally in web applications we can debug and get a way to access the field in the table being clicked on but how to achieve it here?
Any help would be appreciated.
I have attached an image and highlighted the field I want to pass dynamically through URL when we click on that value.
(N.B. - Here 'Dynamically' means there would be many rows in the table but still we want some uniform way to access the value)

NWBC Service Maps
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else has come across this issue I have with NWBC roles. Here is the scenaio, I am using one of the standard SAP roles SAP_SR_BUYER_5 as you can see this role has a top level folder called "Buyer" and it is marked to display as a Service Map:
When this role is displayed in the NWBC 4.0 PL11 (desktop) and I choose the Workcenter Overview I see this nice Service Map:
So far so good... but if I try to click on any of the links in the Service Map it appears to do nothing for a while and then I just get a blank page:
If I Right-Click on the canvas I can see that the page it is trying to call is /sap/bc/ui2/nwbc/?sap-language=EN&sap-theme=sap_corbu&sap-nwbc-node=app_window&sap-nwbc-object_id=4355
When I try to show the canvas in a standalone browser I get a JavaScript error:
But this may be misleading since it may be looking for the NWBC as the "opener".
Anyone have any suggestions? Seen the same thing?

how to link SRM through the SUS nwbc
hello every one,
we have a SRM with 2 clients (600 with SRM and 700 with SUS). We want to activate the NWBC through the SUS client. When the user is already logged on NWBC in the SUS client we want to add a link (or something like that) to access to the SRM client through the nwbc (using a SSO authentication). Any body know if is this possible?

I have been trying to use a custom theme I created using the new Theme Designer for NWBC, the theme appears to be OK but when I make the setting in the NWBC configuration to use it I get the following error when I try to start NWBC:

Google Maps getting stuck NWBC 4.0
Hello,
I am testing the new possibilities of side panels and got a problem with google map CHIP. I use the offered SAP Demo of Enterprise Procurement Model EPM and the problems comes when I open the side panel of google map generating the view. After opening the side panel, the whole NWBC doesnt react anymore and get stuck.
Does anybody had this problem before?
Im working on NW. 7.31 SP 7 (EHP6) and NWBC 4.0.
Die transaction, I get the data from, is: SEPM_SO.
Up to know I didnt found any hint.

Using portal as the base for NWBC
Hi.
We have successfully tested both NWBC 3.5 and 4.0 towards an ABAP backend and a portal.
What puzzles me is that in the ABAP backend there are options to hide a role from being seen in the NWBC and/or the SAPgui.
We have also tested to connect the NWBC 4.0 client to a 7.31 portal with success.
However. I want to achieve an automatic selection of the correct GUI-technology when using the portal vs NWBC.
Eg.
In a role there is some ABAP Web Dynpros and one transaction iview. This iview is configurable as to be either SAP Gui for HTML or SAP Gui for Windows.
I want the following to happen:
When the user logs on using NWBC the transaction should be launched using SAP GUI for Windows.
When the user logs on using portal the transaction should be launched using SAP GUI for HTML.
The SAME role should be assigned.
How do we achieve this?
Do I have to use two desktops and duplicate all roles and hide "the other technology" roles with a desktop rule?
Or is there a simple attribute saying. "Automatic selection" (or Force Wingui=yes, no, automatic)

NWBC desktop with remote WDA/FPM applications
Hello Experts,
I try to implement a scenario with NWBC desktop 4.0 to have one system for logon and role definiton, and integrate some webdynpro abap applications from a remote system. First it looked to be simple, but now I am about to give up.
My logon/role system is called SY1. Here I have imported one role from the remote system SY2, in PFCG the target system entry is set correctly, and also the RFC connection exists.
If I logon with NWBC to SY1, I see the role and can click the application from remote system SY2. This is a WDA/Floorplan application (SAP PPM) which shows me a list of projects. The list (WDA ALV) is shown correctly in a new NWBC tab. so far so good.
And here the problems start:
If I now click on entry in the list, NWBC opens a new tab where the project details should appear - but NWBC tries to open this on SY1 instead of SY2.
And so I get an erorr message, that the requested FPM application does not exist.
My conclusion from this is: Calling a remote WDA app works fine, but if this app tries to open relative links, NWBC will add the hostname of the role system, but it should add the hostname of the calling application, as defined in PFCG.
Has anyone already solved such a problem ?

NWBC Desktop 4.0 Performance questions
Is NWBC for Desktop as fast as regular SAPGUI? Since it employs role-based menus, I understand it is a bit slower starting up because it has to get all the roles, but once NWBC is up and running, should it be just as fast as SAPGUI? I was thinking it should be as fast as SAPGUI because it uses "embedded SAPGUI".
What are some reasons that NWBC for Desktop be slower than SAPGUI?
Does NWBC 4.0 run faster with CORBU theming turned on and slower when CORBU is turned off?

Has anyone had luck setting up NWBC to function like SAP gui
We have 2 issues we are unsure how to resolve...any ideas?
here are 2 key Issues I have come across relative to both versions of NWBC (the thick client and the HTML thin client):
1. Need ability to auto-move focus (and cursor) to next input field on reaching the end of the input field. This is a setting a user can make in SAP GUI.
2. Need ability for system to auto-suggest the object to be acted on based on what happened immediately preceeding it. (For example, a Standard SAP feature today is that once a person performs a goods receipt transaction and the insp lot is auto-created, then when the same person navigates to QE01 for Results Recording upon entering the tcode, the insp lot is auto-filled.). I believe this is standard SAP and not a user-definable setting.

Launchpad not opening in NWBC HTML 3.6
Hi,
I have configured a launchpad (LPD_CUST) which will open when i click on a particular workitem (workflow).
This launchpad is getting opened when i click on the workitem using NWBC Desktop client 4.0.
The issue i am facing is, the same launchpad is not opening when i am trying it from NWBC HTML 3.6.
I am getting an error message Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.

SAP NWBC for HTML - Web Browser Support on MacOS and Linux
We are implementing SAP SRM 7.0 Enh2. We would like to avoid implementation of SAP NW Portal to access SRM application in the Self Service Procurement Scenarios. The alternative is to use SAP NWBC for HTML.
However, we saw in the SAP Netweaver 7.03 PAM (on which SAP SRM 7.02 is based) that SAP NWBC for HTML access through Firefox and Safari is not supported on MacOS and Linux client platforms (only on Windows client platforms).
In note 1620576, it is not stated clearly that SAP NWBC for HTML is not supported on MacOS and Linux.
Is there an official statement from SAP about the support of Firefox on MacOs and Linux client platforms for SAP NWBC 3.5 for HTML?

NWBC open SAPGUI to another client
Ok, so this is probably a slightly unusual requirement and I am still trying to wrap my head around it, but basically we have a project portal where the BASIS team have provided a number of links that launch SAPGUI (Desktop) for all the systems in our landscape.
In order to promote the use of the NWBC I have attempted to reproduce the functionality of this portal using NWBC - the "issue" I have run into is when I try to create a link to open SAPGUI in the same system NWBC is connected to, but to a different client. For example say NWBC connects to DEV 100, and the SAPGUI link I have created is to DEV 110 - when that link opens in NWBC it gives me this message:
My theory is that since it is trying to open a SAPGUI desktop session to the same system (but different client) NWBC is already connected to it can't have another SAPGUI session so it defaults back to SAPGUI for HTML.
Can anyone confirm that it is working "as designed" in this case?
